Fashion with Trend

I rarely get excited about bridal gowns, or, for that matter, about weddings in general (blame my icy soul). Yet the French creative director and stylist Lolita Jacobs has sparked in me an unprecedented wedding interest…and envy.

A few weeks ago, Jacobs wed Jean-Baptiste Talbourdet-Napoleone, creative director of M Le Magazine du Monde,  in sunny St. Tropez, the French Riviera city synonymous with sunshine. Jacobs spent summers there as a child. But seeing as Jacobs was born and raised in Paris she has mastered the art of je-ne-sais-quoi effortless style, she flaunted her unique fashion sense with four ensembles over a weekend of celebrations.

But one outfit in particular caught our attention: The white Azzedine Alaïa shirt she paired with Manolo Blahnik red flats for her civil ceremony. It was a daring bridal choice, yes, but also a picture of elegance and sophistication, that added a modern touch to a traditional institution (mind you, nothing was really traditional about this wedding). The cotton poplin piece drew from a classic shirt silhouette, yet the close fit and flare peplum accentuated her waist in an effortless and timeless way. Her overall look remained minimalist, Jacobs wore natural makeup and simple wavy locks subtly tucked behind a floor-length veil. Perfection.

If you want to borrow Jacobs’ cool bride style, here are some white shirts worth wedding the love of your life in.
