Fashion with Trend

Each year North Americans send over 10.5 million tonnes of textile waste to landfills, 95% of which can be recycled or reused. It’s no secret that when it comes to pollution, the fashion industry is hanging out with heavy-hitters in oil, mining and agriculture. This is a club we’re trying our best to get out of. For our Carbonzero Certified November 2018 issue, we wanted to share stories about sustainability that are real, relevant and hopeful. Stories that answer the questions: am I doing enough for the planet? What easy changes can I make to lead a more sustainable life? How can I build a wardrobe of eco-conscious clothing that I’ll actually want to wear?

To launch our #SustainabilityReboot issue, we joined The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, at her Queen’s Park Suite to celebrate our commitment to creating conversations around sustainability within the fashion industry. “The sustainability movement signifies a return to quality and thoughtful design,” FASHION’s Sustainability Issue guest editor Sarah Jay said to the room of guests, “the luxuries that feed the soul as opposed to fast-fashion machines.”
