Toronto Fashion Week – the event celebrating the wellspring of talent that Canadian fashion has to offer – will return in partnership with RE/SET for the third season in a row. From September 2nd to 4th, Toronto’s Yorkville Village will transform itself into a bustling hub for runway shows, live tapings of the Fashion Talks podcast hosted by CBC journalist Donna Bishop, and the RE/SET designer showroom, a shoppable showcase featuring some of the country’s most covetable designers.
In addition to ogle-able clothes, there is already an exciting, star-studded, event on the schedule. Opening night coincides with the launch party of The Endings, a collaborative photo book between Toronto it-girl photographer Caitlin Cronenberg and Toronto-born set designer Jessica Ennis. The book chronicles stories of breakups, both real and imagined, and features some of the most celebrated actresses of our time such as Julianne Moore, Keira Knightley, Paz de la Huerta, and Danielle Brooks.
“Toronto Fashion Week has been such an important happening for the city and has been a part of my life for so many years. The way the event supports local talent and works hard to build up and back the fashion and arts scene in Toronto is admirable and we felt it was a perfect place to launch The Endings,” Cronenberg said in a statement. “We love that we can share this for the first time with our hometown and with an amazing community of artists.”
This season also marks the beginning of a new partnership between Toronto Fashion Week and Canadian Alliance of Film and Television Costume Arts and Design (CAFTCAD). The resulting exhibition, From Concept to Creation: An Exhibition of Canadian Costume Art and Design, will go on display at Yorkville Village on September 4th.
See you there!
