Whether she’s on the runway or the sidewalk, Soo Joo Park doesn’t fly under the radar. She’s a barrier breaker who isn’t afraid to take charge and push for what she believes in. “When you become a model, you are kind of signing your life away in the sense that it’s not really within your control,” she says. “Even though I don’t get full control, I am always thinking of ways I can improve myself. I can suggest things. I can pose in a certain way or try something else entirely. It’s more about pushing boundaries in a good way and seeing how I can do more. Always more.”
See how she does it with this behind-the-scenes look at our May cover shoot. A L’Oréal Paris ambassador, Soo Joo and makeup artist Chiao-Li tested out the brand’s Infallible line on set in New York. Spoiler: It lasted all day.

A Day in the Life of Soo Joo Park: 8:00 A.M.
“I usually like to wake up at least an hour and a half before I start my job so I can have my moment in the morning. I stay in bed for a little bit. I pet my cat. I make my coffee. I take my shower and apply some cream. I’m ready to go. I end up looking at my phone, but I try not to.”

“What’s beautiful to me isn’t always the most obvious piece. I need an emotional connection to it. Hopefully it’s positive, but some clothes that don’t seem beautiful in the beginning can turn out to be very beautiful because of the connection you have with them. So I try not to say no.”

“The first thing I notice about someone is their attitude and how comfortable they are,” says Soo Joo. “Obviously, I’m going to notice what they are wearing, but it’s more about how they present themselves.”
To give Soo Joo budge-proof brows, Chiao-Li used Unbelieva’Brow long-wear tint. It’s transfer- and sweat-resistant and lasted until the model’s flight the next morning.

“Sometimes we don’t appreciate all the flaws we might have. There is beauty in flaws. When you become obsessed with getting everything right, you don’t think about what might actually be right.”

For a pop of colour, Chiao-Li used Rouge Signature. It’s super-thin and stains the lips for all-day colour and a lightweight feel that won’t dry out. Hours later, Soo Joo’s bold red lips are still in perfect condition—even after countless water breaks!

Chiao-Li used Unlimited Mascara, which lifts and lengthens for 24 hours and features a wand that can be bent to reach smaller lashes. She also used Infallible Super Slim eyeliner to paint on Soo Joo’s face. It’s a product Soo Joo swears by. “All women need it in case they start crying or it rains.”

This article was originally published in March 2024 and has been updated. There may be a famine of beauty in the world, but Fall 2024 fashion month kept us well-fed. From February to March, the world’s major style capitals served no shortage of sartorial splendour and polarizing cultural antics. The Row went viral for banning the use of phones at its hyper-exclusive show. Coperni debuted a bag made of 99 per cent air . There was even a Kate Moss doppelgänger gallivanting about! But through it all, the lasting excitement came from the looks on the runway — which will set the tone for fall winter 2024 fashion trends. Designers continued to showcase their preference for peplum , sheer and elevated athleisure while bringing fresh pairings into the mix. Meanwhile, cold-weather staples like hats and coats took on different roles with luxe textures and unconventional shapes. From controversial new high-fashion codes to more-is-more accessorizing themes, we’re breaking down the bigg...
