Fashion with Trend
Let me guess: you’re having a bad day. Maybe you can’t find your Airpod charger, or you spilled coffee down your white blouse, or suddenly every piece of technology you own is turning against you. How did I know? Because it’s happening to everyone. Across the globe, millions of people are falling to their knees, shaking their fists at the sky. Yep: Mercury is officially in retrograde.
Doubtless you’ve heard someone exclaim, “Oh, Mercury must be in retrograde!” so many times a year that it’s lost all meaning. It actually only happens three times a year for about three weeks, but during those three weeks Mercury (known for its reputation as a mischievous trickster) wreaks havoc on matters of business, travel and communication. It’s advisable to avoid traveling, completing business plans or signing contracts, or attempting to make any big changes in your life while Mercury is in retrograde, since there’s a good chance your attempts will backfire disastrously. But if you’ve already made travel plans, the only thing you can do is be prepared for anything and everything Mercury might throw your way.
Even if you don’t believe in astrology, you have to admit that it couldn’t hurt to take this opportunity to be a little more organized and prepared. Whether Mercury is in retrograde or not, life has a funny way of throwing curveballs. Here’s all the things you need to make it out of the next few weeks alive.
Compact mirror
Everyone should keep a compact mirror on them at all times (because let’s be real, your iPhone is not an effective or elegant solution for checking out the broccoli in your teeth).
A daily planner
Seriously, don’t depend solely on your technology while Mercury is in retrograde; you will regret it. Have a physical backup for all of your important information, contacts, and deadlines in the form of an adorable planner.
A wardrobe malfunction kit
This pink kit might look a little childish, but you’ll feel like the most responsible adult in the room when you whip it out to fix a wardrobe malfunction. It contains helpful items such as an earring back, a sewing kit, a hair band, lint-removing sheets, and more. Our only suggestion is to add an extra handful of safety pins to the kit, since just one is never enough. Oh, and an emergency tampon.
Blister relief
Nothing ruins a day faster than suddenly realizing your cute new shoes are giving you a not-so-cute blister. Luckily there’s a few solutions that you can employ while out and about. Your best bet is probably moleskin. Keep a roll of Dr. Scholl’s Moleskin Plus Padding in your bag at all times, and apply it to your shoe to prevent painful friction. Easy, cheap, and effective. In a pinch, Vaseline and even a quick swipe of deodorant can work to fight friction as well–and you should always keep a few Band-Aids handy too.
A compact manicure kit
Don’t let a surprise hangnail or broken nail get out of control. This portable manicure kit has a mini nail file, cuticle pusher/nail cleaner, cuticle and hangnail clipper, and fingernail clipper. You’ll wonder how your nails ever got by without it.
Portable charger
You simply cannot rely on your technology while Mercury is in retrograde. Plan ahead by keeping a portable phone charger in your purse, so you’ll never have to worry about your phone dying at the most inopportune moment.
