Starring Taron Egerton, this Elton John biopic chronicles the musician’s early days as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music, his rise to fame and his subsequent addiction to drugs and alcohol. Nominated for an Academy Award, three Golden Globes and four British Academy Film Awards, the film features Egerton’s take on several of John’s greatest hits. Available February 21.

Starring Al Pacino, this Amazon Video original series follows a motley crew of Nazi hunters in 1970s New York. The show is executive produced by Jordan Peele and stars Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Josh Radnor, Carol Kane and Dylan Baker alongside Pacino. Available February 21

The Farewell
Based on director Lulu Wang’s own family experience, this critically-acclaimed film stars Awkwafina as Billi, a Chinese-American aspiring writer whose grandmother, addressed as Nai Nai, is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Following Chinese cultural customs, the family decides not to inform Nai Nai of her illness, a decision that Billi struggles to get on board with. As noted by Richard Lawson of Vanity Fair, “Wang movingly tells not just a story about the negotiations of familial love, but also of the immigrant experience, of revisiting one’s homeland to, in some senses, say goodbye to it.” Available February 13.

If you’ve ever wondered when and if Kylie Jenner was going to team up with older sister Kendall Jenner for a makeup collab then you can put those thoughts out of your mind, because a Kendall x Kylie Cosmetics collection is officially underway.

Kylie first teased the collab in a vlog uploaded to her YouTube channel in June of last year. In the video, Kendall was seen at a meeting at the Kylie Cosmetics HQ, discussing packaging and texture for the collab. Then, everything went silent. Until Kendall appeared on The Ellen Show this week and confirmed the line is underway and will be released soon.

Speaking with host Ellen DeGeneres who asked if she was working on a collab, Jenner said, “Yes. We’ve actually not said anything that we’re doing it yet, so this is the first time people will know.” She continued, “I am the last sister, or the last family member I think!” Jenner added that contractual obligations were the reason for the collection being delayed. “I had a contract before with another makeup company. So now I am able to do it.” The model also joked that it was going to be the biggest launch because she’s Kylie’s full sister. “We’re going really big because I’m her full blood,” she said. “We’re taking it seriously.”

Kendall also admitted that she was wearing some of the products on the show, giving the clearest indication of what we can expect from the line yet. A neutral, wear-everywhere eyeshadow palette is pretty much a given, whilst a dewy highlight, mauve lip kit and a cream contour all look like possibilities, too.

Kylie has previously tapped all other female family members to collaborate, having launched collections with Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and mom, Kris Jenner. Most recently, Kylie also created a collection in honour of daughter Stormi for her upcoming second birthday.

Today, Apple Music is releasing an original short film with Celine Dion as she discusses the making of her new album, Courage.

In a global exclusive clip shared with FASHION, Dion says, “I’ve been going through tough times – the loss of René, realizing that I was going to be a single mom. Him and I, we were one person. So when he passed away, I kind of felt like for a moment that there was just one half of me. And then you have to go and put on a short dress and say to Caesar’s Palace, because I was still performing, [singing] ‘She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah’ and then you go to the studio. Oh, you have to sing. It was really hard because this is my first English album without René. In the process of recording that album, a lot of things changed.”

See the exclusive clip below:

The film shows the Canadian superstar as she reflects on the creation of her newest album – her first English language album following the death of her late husband and manager René Angélil in January 2016. The seven-minute long short sees Dion talk about reaching the end of her 16-year residency in Las Vegas, discovering who she is without René and what it now means to be, not only a Grammy Award-winning artist with an international profile, but also a single mom to her three children: René-Charles, and twins Eddy and Nelson. It shows a woman finding herself in the midst of a tragedy, and rising once again in spectacular form – not having ignored the tough times, but embracing them to rebuild what she calls “her second half”.

“Am I just going to not go on anymore? Or am I going to say, I’m a warrior. I’m a mother. I have strength and I’m going to show them that I can do this,” she muses at one point.

The full short is available to watch exclusively on Apple Music from today. See it here.

Ah, Gwyneth Paltrow. She can always be counted upon for a story involving boundary-pushing, out-of-the-box product development that gets people talking. Need we remind you of her recent vagina-scented candle, for example? And now she’s back with yet another attention-grabbing piece – but all for a good cause.

Available now on Goop, Paltrow has designed six T-shirts with tongue-in-cheek slogans that relate to each of the six episodes in her new Netflix documentary, The Goop Lab. These include: “Psychonaut”, “Pegan”, “Cold shower?”, “Can’t drain me of this energy”, “Intuit” and the ultimate highlight, “It’s only a vulva.” The latter is in reference to an episode surrounding the exploration of female self-pleasure and our anatomy.

According to the site, the cotton-modal tees (which retail for CAD$80 each) are finished in “a not-too-tight, not-too-loose fit that tucks like a dream into denim, skirts, sweats, whatever.”

See the collection below:

The best part is that all proceeds from the sale of each of the six shirts will be donated to the Australian Wildfire Fund. So you can give your family something to talk about the next time you pop over for dinner *and* do something meaningful, all in one purchase.

Get yours here.

Earlier this week, Paltrow also announced the launch of the first Goop cruise, called Goop at Sea. The one-day program will give guests the opportunity to hear Gwyneth speak on her own wellness journey, as well as attend Goop-approved workshops all whilst sailing the Med.

Homeland
The eighth season of Homeland sees Claire Danes’ Carrie Mathison trying to recover—physically and emotionally—from months of confinement in a Russian gulag. The war in Afghanistan, peace negotiations with the Taliban, and splintered trust between Carrie and her mentor Saul form the framework of this harrowing series’ final season. Available February 9

A New York Times Critic’s Pick, this beautifully shot film is a haunting, deeply emotional tale of friendship, home, family and displacement. Fashion with Trend

Copenhagen has officially kicked off the F/W20 show season this week – bringing with it an achingly cool lineup of street stye looks. So far there has been an array of coloured coats, from an orange fur bomber to a purple leather trench. Plus, statement bags are still a fashion-lover’s best friend. From unique bucket bags to timeless clutches, these little (or big) sidekicks have been the cherry on top of every street style look we’ve seen so far this week.

But street style isn’t the only thing we’re cheering for out of the Danish city. On January 28, Copenhagen Fashion Week unveiled the Sustainability Action Plan 2020-2022 to reinvent the city’s fashion week in just two years’ time. The plan outlines how the event will reduce its climate impact by 50 per cent and attain zero waste by 2022.

“All industry players–including fashion weeks–have to be accountable for their actions and be willing to change the way business is done,” said Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week. “The timeframe for averting the devastating effects of climate change on the planet and people is less than a decade, and we’re already witnessing its catastrophic impacts today. Put simply, there can be no status quo.”

Large events like fashion weeks have the outreach to push for industry change—a huge and important responsibility, given our climate’s critical state. The plan also focuses on the bigger picture, implementing sustainability requirements for the city. “Copenhagen Fashion Week is the cultural and commercial meeting place of the Scandinavian fashion industry. This gives us an enormous responsibility and the potential to create impactful change in the industry at large. By taking this direction we go from being a traditional event to being a platform for industry change,” continued Thorsmark.

On a consumer level, we can do our part in pushing for change by buying less, but with more awareness, and loving our pieces for longer. The great thing about winter’s (dreadful) return each and every year, is that statement coats—and our love for them—will always have a purpose. See the top street style looks from Copenhagen Fashion Week FW20 below.
