Serena Williams’s nails raised awareness for the Australian bushfires

On Wednesday, Serena Williams played her second-round match at the 2020 Australian Open at Melbourne Park. The idolized athlete arrived ready to sweat and play hard, but not without a little token of respect for the wildlife being affected by the tragic Australian bushfires. Painted onto one of Williams’s nails was an adorable koala bear. This small gesture comes after the star athlete announced that her entire ASB Classic five-figure winnings from earlier this month will be donated to bushfire relief efforts. On top of that, Williams and other tennis players recently participated in a fundraiser match that donated its entire earnings to the tragic events.

Skincare brand Glow Recipe launches a lip product for the very first time

Glow Recipe’s watermelon product lineup is getting a new addition – a lip product by the name Watermelon Glow Lip Pop. The lip balm, formulated with acids and vitamins for a dewy effect, also serves as a scrub and tint. As you can see, coconut flower sugar granules are embedded within the balm, which physically exfoliate and dissolve as you swipe it onto your lips. The secondary exfoliant packed into this lippy is hibiscus extract, which is a natural source of alpha-hydroxy acids, to chemically dissolve dead skin cells. While that’s cool, the source of colour might be the star of the show. Red 27 is a dye used to make colour-changing shades, as it transforms to the intended colour after coming in contact with moisture. This advanced method allows for the tint of colour to look slightly different on each person who wears it. The Watermelon Glow Lip Pop is available now on sephora.com for $29, and will hit stores January 31.

Women’s World Cup champs and newlyweds Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger are the newest Bumble and bumble brand ambassadors

Soccer champions Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger have just scored their first deal in the beauty industry. The Orlando Pride athletes, who married each other in December and hold the current championship title for the Women’s World Cup of Soccer, are now brand ambassadors for hair care brand Bumble and bumble. Krieger explains that she is known for her “Ali Krieger Bun,” which is tightly pulled back and super crucial in keeping her hair off her face. “It’s nice that we kind of have that identity on the field…through our hair,” she says. Not only are the two true devotees to Bumble and bumble, but they see eye-to-eye with the brand. “Bumble and bumble is non-conformist, and so am I,” Harris says in one of the campaign videos. Lush launched a vegan beauty staple

This week, Lush released Ultraplant, an ethically-sourced, cruelty free, handmade product that melts away dirt and makeup. Thanks to its gentle formulation, this cream cleanser won’t strip your face of it’s moisture. And in keeping with Lush practices, the ingredient list is minimal: organic Jojoba oil, organic blossom water, glycerine, sunflower wax, candelilla wax and organic agave nectar. Available in-stores now and launching online on January 31.
