Rihanna has hired women’s footwear designer Amina Muaddi to help design shoes for her Fenty collection, it was revealed this week. Crowned Designer of the Year at the recent Footwear News Achievement Awards, Muaddi’s namesake brand is known for its colourful yet simple heels trimmed with rhinestones, sequins and feathers. This isn’t the first time the two female powerhouses have aligned their creativity however – earlier this year, Muaddi’s shoes were featured in Riri’s Savage x Fenty show in New York. In an interview with Footwear News, she revealed that this freelance gig is amongst some of her next big moves. Watch this space.

Recent flooding in Venice — the worst the Italian city has seen in 50 years — resulted in devastating damage to St. Mark’s Basilica. Bottega Veneta is taking action to help restore the iconic city’s cathedral, which lies close to where the fashion label was founded. 40 per cent of sales from four of Bottega Veneta’s most popular bags (BV Classic, Marie, BV Angle and Arco) will be donated to the monument with help from non-profit organization Venetian Heritage. The funds raised will go toward specifically restoring the mosaic floors and marble walls.

Fendi and Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris released scented bags

Just when we thought we’d seen it all, Italian fashion house Fendi has released three new scented handbags. The bags were designed in partnership with master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian who crafted the fragrance (which he calls FendiFrenesia) which combines Italian leather with rose, vanilla, labdanum, wine and tree bark. He then used a top-secret patented leather scenting technique to immerse the scent into the bags.  The scent will reportedly last up to three years.

Holt Renfrew announced H Project Approved, an icon program to help customers shop sustainable

Via Holt Renfrew

This week, Holt Renfrew unveiled a new program as an extension of its H Project concept – a dedicated space in Holt Renfrew stores that sells a curated collection of responsible products. The new H Project Approved program will identify products with the above icon, as well as a series of sub-icons identifying why each product has been selected for responsible accreditation. “We know that customers want to make well-informed purchases when it comes to choosing a product that is either less harmful to the environment, or makes a positive contribution to society through supporting charities and craftsmanship, but it can be confusing or hard to find,” said Alexandra Weston, divisional vice president of brand & creative strategy. “We hope that the H Project Approved icon program takes away some of those barriers and makes it easier for our customers to buy more sustainably.” This new program is available online, and will be available in stores from Spring 2020.
